Radiator Installation and Replacement

New radiators can change how a room looks and how warm it feels. Whether you want to swap a tired panel, move one to free up a wall or add heat to a converted loft, Pro Plumbers fits radiators in Sevenoaks homes and leaves the whole system working properly afterwards.

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Choosing what to change

This is about decisions rather than faults. If a radiator is leaking or refusing to heat, our Radiator Repair page covers that. Here the question is what you want: a like-for-like swap on the same pipe centres, a bigger radiator for a room that never quite warms up, a slimmer one behind a sofa, a radiator moved to another wall, or an extra one added to the circuit. Each option affects the pipework and sometimes the boiler, so we talk through what the room needs before anything is ordered.

Minimum charge £90 + VAT, including the first hour on site. Larger jobs get a fixed, no-obligation price.

Radiator Installation and Replacement by Pro Plumbers in Sevenoaks

OUR PROCESS

How It Works

01

Look at the room

We consider the room size, windows and how you use it, and check the existing pipework and valves.

02

Choose and confirm

We recommend a type and size, confirm the pipe changes needed and give you a price before work begins.

03

Fit and rebalance

The system is drained, the radiator fitted with new valves, then refilled, cleaned, treated and balanced.

BENEFITS

Done properly, start to finish

Right output for the room

A radiator that matches the room means you are not left with cold corners or an oversized panel taking up wall space.

Tidy pipework

Where pipes need moving, they are routed neatly, under floors where practical, rather than left in awkward runs across skirting.

Whole system considered

After the change, the system water is treated and radiators balanced so other rooms do not lose out.

Single panel, double panel and convector fins

Radiators come in different builds. A single panel suits small rooms and spaces where depth matters. Double panels give more heat from the same wall area. Convector fins, the folded metal behind the panels, increase heat output further. Designer and vertical radiators can suit narrow walls but must still give enough output for the room. We help you choose by the heat the room needs, not just the look.

Heated towel rails in bathrooms

Towel rails are a popular change in bathrooms and en-suites. They are often fitted as part of a wider bathroom project, which our Bathroom Plumbing page covers along with shower upgrades. A towel rail on the heating circuit only warms when the heating runs, which is worth knowing when choosing.

Moving or adding a radiator

Moving a radiator means extending or rerouting the flow and return pipes, which may involve lifting floorboards. Adding one means connecting a new branch to the circuit. In both cases we check that the boiler and existing pipework can supply the extra demand, so heat is not stolen from other rooms.

Draining, refilling and cleaning

Most radiator work means draining some or all of the system. Once refilled, air is bled out and inhibitor is added to protect against corrosion. If the old water is dark with sludge, a clean such as power flushing may be recommended before new radiators go on, so they are not filled with old debris.

Valves and balancing

New radiators are normally fitted with new valves, often thermostatic radiator valves that let you set each room. Finally, the system is balanced so hot water reaches every radiator evenly. FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a new radiator go on the same pipes as the old one?

Often, if the pipe centres match or can be adapted with suitable fittings. Moving to a different size may need small pipework changes.

Will the heating be off while you work?

Yes, for part of the visit while the system is drained and refilled. We tell you beforehand how long to expect.

Is it worth replacing all my radiators at once?

It can be if you are replacing the whole system. Our Central Heating Installation page explains that option.

Can I choose my own radiator?

Yes. Tell us what you have in mind and we check it suits the room, the pipework and the boiler before anything is ordered or fitted.
