Central Heating Installation

Fitting a complete central heating system is a planned project with a beginning, a middle and a handover. Pro Plumbers designs and installs whole systems in Sevenoaks homes, from the first walk round with a tape measure to showing you how the new controls work.

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

A whole system, not just a new boiler

Replacing only the boiler suits a house whose radiators and pipes are in good order. A full installation is different: it suits homes with no central heating, systems that have been patched for decades, extensions that were never properly connected, or layouts where the old pipe routes no longer make sense. The work covers the boiler, every radiator, the pipework that links them, the controls and, where needed, a hot water cylinder. If you only need the boiler changed, our Boiler Installation page covers that job.

Minimum charge £90 + VAT, including the first hour on site. Larger jobs get a fixed, no-obligation price.

OUR PROCESS

How It Works

01

Room-by-room survey

We measure each room, note windows and outside walls, and look at where pipes can run and where the boiler and any cylinder could sit.

02

Written proposal

You receive a fixed, no-obligation price setting out the boiler, radiators, controls and pipework included, so nothing is left vague.

03

Install and hand over

The system is fitted in stages, filled, tested and commissioned, then we walk you through the controls before we leave.

BENEFITS

What a planned installation gives you

Radiators sized to each room

Output is matched to the room rather than guessed, so a cold north-facing bedroom is not given the same radiator as a small hallway.

A boiler that suits the house

Gas or oil, combi or system with a cylinder. We are a Worcester Bosch accredited installer and we also fit Vaillant boilers.

Proper qualifications

Gas Safe, OFTEC and G3 unvented registration means the boiler and any unvented cylinder are covered by the right credentials.

Before work starts: choosing the boiler

The survey shapes the choice. A smaller home with one bathroom may suit a combi boiler that heats water on demand. A house with several bathrooms often works better with a system boiler and a cylinder, which can be unvented if the mains supply allows. Homes off the gas main need an oil boiler. We talk through the options with you and recommend what fits the way the household uses heat and hot water.

Stage one: first fix

First fix is the hidden part of the job. Old radiators and pipework are removed or isolated, floorboards are lifted where pipes must pass, and new pipe runs are laid to each radiator position and back to the boiler location. Brackets go on the walls and any new flue route is prepared. This is the messiest stage, and we agree in advance which rooms will be disturbed and when.

Stage two: second fix

Second fix is when the system takes shape. Radiators are hung and connected with new valves, the boiler is mounted and connected, and the programmer, room thermostat and any thermostatic radiator valves are fitted. Floors go back down once joints have been checked.

Stage three: filling, commissioning and handover

The system is filled, flushed to clear installation debris and treated with inhibitor to protect it from corrosion. The boiler is commissioned and its readings checked, every radiator is balanced so heat reaches the far rooms, and the controls are set to your routine. At handover you are shown how to use the programmer and thermostat, how to read the pressure gauge and where to isolate the system.

Living at home during the work

If you will be living in the house while the work is done, tell us at the survey. Before work starts we agree which rooms will be affected on which days, and when the heating and hot water will be off, mainly while the old system is drained and the new boiler connected. Knowing this in advance lets you plan around washing, cooking and anyone at home who feels the cold, and lets us order the stages to suit.

What happens to the old system

Sometimes parts of the existing pipework are sound and can be kept, after a thorough clean such as a power flush. Elsewhere it is better to strip the old system out entirely. We explain which approach the survey supports. To arrange a survey, call 01732 444555 or request a quote. FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a full central heating installation priced?

After the survey we give a fixed, no-obligation price for the whole job, listing what is included.

Can I keep some of my existing radiators?

Sometimes. If they are in good condition and suitably sized for the room, they can be cleaned and reconnected. We will tell you honestly at the survey.

Can underfloor heating be part of a new system?

Yes, it can be included for some rooms, for example a kitchen extension. Our Underfloor Heating page explains more.

Will new pipes be visible?

We plan routes under floors and inside boxing wherever practical, and agree with you where any pipework will show.
